FROM AN INTERVIEW BY A SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT FROM 7 WAVES RADIO 92.1 WITH DR JOHN DOWLAND, RESEARCHER AT THE INTEGRATED REGENERATION SCIENCE RESEARCH UNIT:

“In the studio today we have Dr John Dowland from the Integrated Regeneration Science Research Unit and we’re going to be talking about the ‘Zone’. Dr Dowland, would you mind telling to our listeners about the Zone and your recent discoveries”.

“Well Andy, it is only recently that we have been able to successfully navigate the Zone, with the help of the ‘Visitors’, and start our research. For a long time the Zone was a site for the collection, indexing and archiving of everyday domestic objects. Then, sometime during the end of the last century the site was repurposed and left fallow. This repurposing then triggered a series of events we are still researching. The first event, of course, was the inhabitation of the Zone by the ‘Regenerators’.

“Ah yes, the Regenerators. I understand not a lot is know about this group, Dr Dowland.”

“Yes, that’s right. What we do know is that they visited the site a short while after the Zone’s repurposing. Why they chose to that particular site and what their intentions were, we do not know. But they left behind them a series of fascinating artefacts.”

“If we could come back to the artefacts in a moment, Dr Dowland. I just wanted to pick up on the ‘Visitors’. I know people living around the Zone will know all about the Visitors, but for our listeners elsewhere, could you tell us more about this mysterious set of individuals.”

“Yes, yes, of course. The Visitors were the first people to really explore the Zone once the Regenerators had left. They discovered most of the artefacts we ourselves are now researching, and some more besides I’ve no doubt, ones they have yet to tell us about!”

“And these Visitors act as guides into the Zone, is that right?”

“Yes, they will occasionally take people into the Zone with them, but only on specific days of the year.”

“And the artefacts, Dr Dowland….”

“We are currently researching about twelve different artefacts, some of which have either degraded or partially disappeared from view. Some say that the Visitors were too ‘enthusiastic’ with their initial interactions with the artefacts, that they disregarded the Regenerators original intentions and, to use an earlier phrase, ‘repurposed’ them for their own uses. But there are many conflicting reports about the Visitors and their relationship with the Zone.”

“And The Room, Dr Dowland, can you tell us about The Room.”

“Oh, yes, The Room………………..”
